Stratford Strollin’…

HEY GUYS!! How ya doin’?? I hope you’re all well and are having a lovely week so far!

It feels like FOR.EVER. since I’ve done one of these posts! Which is a shame as they are definitely my favorite to make, but NO FEAR, the wait is over!! (I know you’ve been on waiting on tenterhooks!) 😉 Juuust kidding, but I do hope you enjoy it!

IT’S AN ADVENTURE DAAAAAAY!!

So I visited Shakespeare Country, AKA Stratford-Upon-Avon, in the beautiful Warwickshire. The birth place of the great poet and playwright himself, and the best name I could come up with for my post is ‘Stratford Strollin’…

Shocking…

BUT ANYWAY, no matter that is something we can blow past… as I was saying, I recently went on a visit to Stratford-upon-avon. I was super excited because having seen pictures but never properly explored it myself, I thought it looked so pretty and enchanting and right up my street for a day out exploring. It did NOT disappoint!

I’m quite literally besotted with any building that adorns those beautiful wooden Tudor beams, like literally you could put them on your garden shed and I would want to live in it! I just loved how on the high street it could just be your ordinary Costa or WHSmith, but the building itself just looked like it had come right out an old fairy tale!

Between the storybook jumble of rickety, mismatched and wonky looking buildings, the street was dotted with old fashioned sweet shops, tea rooms boasting ‘mad hatters tea party’ style scones in the windows and all your favorite high street shops! It was just a wonderful mixture of everything practical and fun all the while looking ridiculously idyllic. That along with the silvery river drifting lazily through the town, swans and barges bobbing gently on the surface, this was just the definition of content for me!

The icing on the cake was that in the midst of bleak and dreary days the day I was there was actually pretty clear and bright and sunny! So all that made for a pretty lovely day 🙂

OH and wait till you hear this, there was also an ALL YEAR ROUND!! yes. ALL. YEAR. ROUND! Christmas Shop!!!! Could you ask for anything more from a place?!

As I wasn’t there for too long I mostly just explored the town, but there is obviously lots more to do in Stratford such as visiting Anne Hathaway’s Cottage and Gardens, Shakespeare’s Birthplace and of course, see a play, which I definitely want to do next time! I believe there is also a Butterfly house if you are looking for fun things to do in when visiting! Though for some reason I find those places mildly terrifying…no idea why. See a Butterfly outside? ‘ahhh so pretty’, see a bunch of them in an enclosed greenhousey thing? It’s like I’m suddenly in Jurassic Park and all these pterodactyls are flying at my head!!! Anyway, I massively digress there, enough rambling for one day!

I hope you enjoy the photos from my day in Stratford, I would definitely recommend a visit here if you have never been before! I really enjoyed it 🙂

Back soon!

In the evening we had dinner in this really lovely pub called ‘The Encore’. There is a more bar/ pub area downstairs then upstairs is a restaurant area where we sat. It was really beautifully decorated inside and I had the best brownie of my life (except for the ones I make. Obviously 😉 haha) Which I have added in below becuase it looked too good not to share!! Great pub to grab a drink or food at in Stratford!

Thought I’d add this in quickly at the end, though not actually in Stratford, only about half an hour away in a village called ‘Barnt Green’ is this pub restaurant called ‘The Victoria’. I got a Steak and Ale Pie and a Sticky Toffee Pudding and it was amazing. Lovely atmosphere and the staff were really nice. Highly recommend!! 🙂
